At their July meeting the Conservation Commission voted to request a peer review of the adjusted plans for the Muraco culvert. It appears that a member of the commission saw herring as far up stream as this culvert and they want another opinion.
I spoke with the Mystic River Watershed Association and it is their opinion that the herring have not made it that far.
I am not sure Who is performing the review.
It is unclear what the parameters of this review are but they hope to have the results in time for their August 12 meeting.
I have emailed Elaine Vreeland about this decision and asked that my emails be forwarded to commission members. I have indicated that flood season is quickly approaching and in light of the national flooding that has reached as far north as New Jersey I am concerned for the Muraco area. In addition I am wondering why it took this long for the commission to bring this up.
I, along with some Tufts Road residents will attend the next meeting.
